Hello there. Here’s some legal stuff about this site.

The terms “we,” “us,” and “our” refers to Cave of Monsters. The terms “user,” “you,” and “your” refer to site visitors, customers, and any other users of the site.

This Privacy Policy applies to all site visitors, customers, and all other users of the site. By using the Site or Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy, without modification, and acknowledge reading it.

Cookies

If you create an account and/or sign in to comment (see below), a single cookie is stored to authenticate you on future visits.

Other than that though…

We don’t use any tracking cookies.1

Personal Information

We may collect personal information such as your name and email address, but only if you voluntarily provide it to us. This may occur, for example, if you sign up to receive an email newsletter or free product from the Site.

We will use your email address for the purposes for which you provided it to us, and also from time to time to send you emails regarding the Site or other products or services that we believe may be of interest to you. You may opt out of such email communications at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” button in the email.

Our comment platform is provided by a self-hosted version of commento. If you wish to comment, we require you to first create an account. You can do that by providing your name and email address. Or you can log in securely using your Google, Twitter, or Github account. (In this case, we only request the minimum information needed to verify your identity such as your account id, name, email address, and avatar photo.) This collected information is used to verify your identity when you comment (which helps prevent spam).

If you comment, the following information may be displayed publicly on our site: your name, profile photo (if provided), website url (if provided), and the comment itself.2

Your email address may also be shared with the technology provider we use in connection with the purposes for which you provided it, and that technology provider may also contact you from time to time.

Personally Identifiable Information collected by caveofmonsters.com may also be used for other purposes, including but not limited to site administration, troubleshooting, administration of sweepstakes and contests, and other communications with you.

Certain third parties who provide technical support for the operation of our site (our web hosting service, for example) may access such information. We will use your information only as permitted by law. In addition, from time to time as we continue to develop our business, we may sell, buy, merge or partner with other companies or businesses. In such transactions, user information may be among the transferred assets. We may also disclose your information in response to a court order, at other times when we believe we are reasonably required to do so by law, in connection with the collection of amounts you may owe to us, and/or to law enforcement authorities whenever we deem it appropriate or necessary. Please note we may not provide you with notice prior to disclosure in such cases.

We will never sell, barter, or rent your personal information to any unauthorized third party. Period.

Aggregated Information

Like other Web publishers, we collect information to enhance your visit and deliver more individualized content. We respect your privacy.

Aggregated Information (information that does not personally identify you) may be used in many ways. For example, we may combine information about your usage patterns with similar information obtained from other users to help enhance our site and services (e.g., to learn which pages are visited most or what features are most attractive). Aggregated Information may occasionally be shared with our business partners. Again, this information does not include any Personally Identifiable Information about you or allow anyone to identify you individually.

Questions and Contact

If you have any questions about how we handle user data and personal information, feel free to contact us.

This policy is effective as of 1 January 2021.

Earnings Disclosure

If you see us recommend a product or book (or post any kind of link to a product, service, or anything really), there’s a good chance that we’re getting paid serious cash in exchange for doing so. Or maybe just a few pennies… sometimes we take what we get. ;)

Why?

Well, there are three simple reasons.

1. It makes us money.

Some people may try to beat around the bush on this. Not us. Providing for our families is an absolute priority.

But here’s the thing. Both of us run freelance businesses that currently cover our ongoing expenses. So we don’t technically “need” income from this site.

But the more money we make here, the less time we have to spend doing client work.

And that lets us devote more energy in creating new, in-depth content here.

2. There’s a lot of great products out there.

Learning from other people is a big part of how we grow ourselves.

So if there’s something we’ve personally benefited from or like… we want to share it with you.

This lets us add value beyond just what we create here. Because ultimately, Cave of Monsters isn’t just about one tiny area. It’s about your WHOLE life.

So we’re happy to recommend other books, courses, products, and so on. And we take the time introduce you to other folks who are doing work we resonate with.

(By the way, if there are flaws or weaknesses with anything we recommend, we’ll try to be upfront about that stuff too.)

3. We don’t have to re-create what others have done.

Yes, we could create courses about health or building a business or whatever.

But it’s not worth it.

Most often, other people have already done the work already. And they’ve done it better than either of us ever could.

So it’s better for you and for us to just recommend their work.

Then we can focus on creating the types of work that we’re best at creating.

---

There you have it. That’s why we promote stuff as an affiliate.

As we always say though…

DO NOT blindly take our word for anything. Evaluate stuff for yourself. Discern for yourself it’s worth it for you.

And if you have questions, feel free to ask.
